OUR HISTORY
Steeple Chase Baptist Church took root in September 1996 when a small band of believers started the Fellowship Bible Study Group. God saw a need and he planted seed in West Shreveport. On December 10, 1996 after Bible Study, the group went to look at a building at 7016 Steeple Chase Plaza. The vision was becoming clearer… God’s seed was about to sprout. January 14, 1997 the Fellowship Bible Study Group held its first meeting at 7016 Steeple Chase Plaza. The first Sunday morning worship service took place January 26, 1997 and it was during this service that the Steeple Chase Baptist Church was introduced. On March 30, 1997, Easter Sunday Morning, Steeple Chase conducted its first public worship service at Evangel Christian Academy. During that service, God added two members to the flock. From March to Mid-September, Steeple Chase met at Evangel Christian Academy for Sunday Services. Bible Study and Prayer meetings were at 7016 Steeple Chase Plaza. On March 20, 1998, God enabled Steeple Chase Baptist Church to purchase 7016 Steeple Chase Plaza. The late Reverend Gregory Kirby was the Pastor and Organizer of Steeple Chase Baptist Church (1997-2010). On May 11, 1998, Steeple Chase Baptist Church became incorporated through the State of Louisiana with the organizing core members: Bobbie Riley, John Vance, Katrina Murray, Wanda Sias, Debra Slone, Linda Kirby, Crystal Morgan, Shemekia Gatlin, Dorothy Gatlin, Gloria Hewitt, James E. Peters, Sr., Clarence Powell, Flash Russell, and Larry Sias. Reverend Robert Brantley served as Interim Pastor from December 2010 to January 2012. On Wednesday, November 2, 2011, Antonio T. Dixon, Sr. was elected Pastor of Steeple Chase. Our story continues to be written….
